I wanted an easy way to know when my servers go down, so I hooked up my Zabbix monitoring server to some LEDs I had lying around. Now, when a server goes down, Zabbix triggers an event that uses IFTTT to start flashing the LED strip, giving me a clear, visual alert when there’s an issue.

Process:

• Server Down > Zabbix Event/Trigger > IFTTT > LED strip starts flashing

It’s a simple but effective way to stay on top of any server issues.
